People Search Requests Keeping Me Busy

Been a while since adding to this blog, sorry to those who check in with my page, don't mean to disappoint... HibbingHobo, if you're still having wireless problems let me know, I just figured out the one for my home office...WOW it's cool.

So what's been going on? Well, the main site, Str82u.net has an Assisted People Search feature for $5 or $10 to help folks who don't have the time to search for themselves, while I can't find people free because of the time involved (and you might not believe how many requests come in), the site's have partnerships and associations with larger companies and I use them to get what some might not find in public records or free sites. There is a small, very small, team that works to do these searches and whoever gets results for a customer gets or splits the money. Everybody wins and Str82u gets to help. And that's whets been keeping me busy

Caught with criminals

This technique can be applied to most things you search for on the internet.
So there I am, minding my own business when I found myself collecting links to warrants online and inmate searches. I'm also very interested in search engine optimization, so these new pages went up on most of the websites in several different versions and formats. One by one they all have started picking up steam in popular search engines and it might be nice to share a few tips that finding these sites myself and analyzing visitor traffic has taught, since so many people are looking for inmates.

Find Criminal Public Records

Most people don't know it, but they could be on the internet in a court document for something as minor as a traffic violation or as the witness in a court case. Once I saw a DUI arrest report that the officer had written the woman's social security number on, and was never marked out when it was scanned into the courthouse database. Can you believe it? It doesn't happen that way all the time, but most criminal and civil cases you read online have very sensitive information in them including name, address, phone number, drivers license number and what kind of affair they were involved with.
That's the same technique I've used for people search with public records and vice-versa to dig up information about a person.

Another method is the warrant search and going to the jail to do an inmate search. Most jails we list on our sites, found in the left hand menu, also share what the prisoner is there for and more. Warrants search does the same thing and can be found more commonly at correction facility or sheriff's office websites that don't have an offender lookup. If nothing else, you know where they are and can get the address and information about visitation and how to contact a person in jail.
One last thing, this is just common sense that doesn't occur to the average web surfer, if you don't find it right away or with what you think someone else is calling it, call your search everything possible that makes sense to a consumer. That's what a good search engine picks up on and what people put on site like this to attract you and other searching patrons. Try to describe what it is you want, plain and simple, but descriptive. Don't expect exact results from using either "County Jail" as a search term or even "Johnson County". Get descriptive and keep in mind that words like SEARCH might be called something a little different by other people. Our example here is "Ottawa County Jail". How many do you think there are? I don't even know how many Ottawa counties there are, but there is only one way to find the right one through Google, and that is "Ottawa county jail inmate lookup", otherwise you run into one of my sites or one that is nothing but advertising (by the way, str82u.net is #6). Other phrases could include inmate list, lookup, prisoner, log, booking, population, "Somewhere" who's in jail, arrest, locator, offender, offense and anything associated with the particular region or state. For example, county lockups in Pennsylvania are called PRISON, NOT JAIL. So it would be "Cumberland County Prison" to find it in a search, not "Cumberland County Jail" or "Texas Department of Corrections" sounds right, but it's actually "Texas department of criminal justice" or "TDCJ".

Free People Search For Genealogy or Vital Records

In GENERAL, you can call the office that maintains vital statistics to ask about costs and availability. depending on the person you talk to or local access rules, you may get confirmation of an event just that by asking and then you can decide if you need to order a birth certificate, divorce record, death certificate, marriage license or other documents.

To make it easier, some courthouses allow you to come in in person to search old documents like deeds and marriage licenses for free, then charge for copies and certification (notary) if necessary. If you can't walk in or need your legal documents faster, most are available to purchase from third parties, which is the preferred method of most states.

If they never put the records online or made an free index of them to search, and you can't get a overly helpful bookkeeper or visit personally, people have to rely on companies that collect data and offer it for sale. Reputable companies like Ancestry.com and Intelius will verify the existence of your information and offer money back guarantees.

Genealogy and the Free People Search

Lately, there has been an increase in the amount of local search requests from people, mostly for public record data, but specifically for free death and birth certificate or free marriage and divorce records.

The truth is that unless you were born in a rich and friendly rural area, it won't happen. In seven years of running free search sites and searching for other people, I've only had two people say they got theirs for nothing and I didn't see it for myself. The prices I've seen range from $7us to $30us depending on the state or how you get it from them. Locate the vital records office or courthouse in the place you were born and contact them. You can find links to the state offices on the site as well as any forms you need for getting records by mail.

Some states do provide a free search for people to look up marriage and divorce filings to verify information, but still charge for copies.

Another New Year Entry

There will probably be millions of entries into blogs around midnight tonight. Everything from "What I'm Doing Right Now" to "What I want To Be Doing IN The Future". Since we all seem to have good intentions, one can't be faulted for thinking of themselves, but where are the people who are closest to your heart? The most important things sometimes are who we are, not who we want to be, trying to be the man I should be makes me fall on my face nearly every time.

With all the things that I have let fall to the wayside, the things that matter most are family and freinds, not the things I can hold or use. These are also the things I desperately hope to find and bring back into my life one day. For you who might read this, I hope you can find what you are looking for. When they say that it's not the destination, but the journey, it's true, but the companions that take it with you are what makes the journey worth taking.
